Worship

Worship is an important moment of reconnection, relfection and commissioning to serve the world. We hope you’ll be present in worship as often as you can- ALL are welcome in our worship services and at the communion table, where we gather weekly.

Holy Communion

In Holy Communion, we remember and proclaim God’s saving work through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We are reminded again of the gifts of God’s grace and forgiveness given to each of us. In communion, we celebrate what God is doing among us and in us.

In the United Methodist Church, Holy Communion is open to all persons. We believe the sacrament is a means of grace and a sign of God’s presence in the gathered community. You do not have to be a member to participate and all ages are welcome.

Holy Baptism

As a visible sign of God’s grace at work in our lives, we baptize infants and adults alike, claiming each as God’s child. Baptisms take place within the service at the request of families or individuals who are making a faith commitment. On occasion, the congregation will be encouraged to literally or symbolically remember their baptism through a special time of re-commitment and gratitude for God’s grace.  To schedule a baptism contact the church office. More information our beliefs in baptism.

Children in Worship

Children are welcome to stay in service with us for the whole service. God put the wiggle and the noise into children and we love their joyful presence in worship- so relax and just help your kiddos follow along in the service as best they can (grown ups wiggle and make noise too!). There are activity bags and books for children in the back of the sanctuary. If it is your preference, children, and infants under age 5 are welcome to go to the nursery in our children’s building. If you’re little ones stay in service with you and need a change or a feeding or just a moment to collect themselves, there is also a cry room upstairs just off the balcony with a changing station, rocking chairs, books and toys, and the service livestream playing in the room so you won’t miss a thing!

Accessibility in Worship

There are assistive listening devices available from the ushers, along with large print hymnals. The shorter pews in the middle are reserved for those accompanying wheelchair users. There are also special activity bags available to children who have sensory issues. Communion can be received in the circle, standing or seated on the front pew, or at your seat in the 8:30 service; at the 11 you may come stand or kneel at the rail or receive at your seat.  The elements are bread and grape juice and gluten-free options are available. If you have an accessibility issue please let us know and we’ll do our very best to accommodate.  Our older building sometimes gets in the way but we want to remove as many barriers as we can to everyone’s full engagement with worship!
